Rajasthan MBBS admission 2026: current status
Rajasthan state MBBS/BDS admission is conducted through the NEET UG Medical and Dental Admission/Counselling Board under the state Medical Education Department. NEET UG qualification is necessary, but NTA does not register candidates for Rajasthan counselling or allocate state/private seats.
The latest complete official process available for comparison was the 2025 information booklet. It covered centralised admission to state-quota seats, including management and NRI seats, in government, government-society/RAJMES, RUHS, ESIC and private colleges over four counselling rounds. The 2026 booklet can change eligibility, deposits, bonds and round rules.
NMC's 2026–27 matrix establishes approved intake. The Rajasthan counselling matrix determines the seats, quota codes and vacancies actually offered by the state board. Always compare both; neither replaces the other.
Rajasthan and MCC counselling routes
| Seat type | Authority | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Rajasthan state quota in government/society/RUHS colleges | Rajasthan UG Board | Register under current state eligibility rules |
| Management and NRI seats listed by Rajasthan | Rajasthan UG Board | Use exact fee/category row and eligibility |
| Private medical college seats in state matrix | Rajasthan UG Board | Check domicile/open eligibility and current fees |
| All India Quota government seats | MCC | Register separately with MCC |
| AIIMS Jodhpur/deemed institutions | MCC | Use MCC's relevant seat matrix |
A Rajasthan registration does not cover MCC. Candidates using both need separate payments, choice lists and careful coordination of joining/resignation rules.
Eligibility and domicile
The 2026 booklet controls nationality, age, academic requirements, state eligibility and category reservation. MBBS candidates must qualify NEET UG and satisfy the prescribed Class 12/equivalent subject and marks conditions.
Do not call Rajasthan fully “open” without naming the seat. State-quota, management, private and NRI categories can have different residence/eligibility rules. A non-domicile candidate may be eligible for some rows but not all government/state-reserved seats.
Reservation claims require current certificates in the form and validity specified by the board. NRI eligibility requires the prescribed status, relationship and sponsorship evidence; ability to pay alone is insufficient. Resolve certificate questions before choice locking.
Rajasthan MBBS counselling process
- Download NEET records: retain the NTA scorecard, admit card and AIR.
- Find the official 2026 portal: reach it through Rajasthan Medical Education, not an advertisement.
- Read the booklet: confirm eligibility, fees, security deposit, rounds and forfeiture.
- Register accurately: use personal contact details and data matching NEET/school documents.
- Pay notified amounts: save transaction references and confirmation pages.
- Verify merit/category: review provisional/final lists and correct errors within the window.
- Open matrix and fee sheets: match college, seat type, fee, bond and vacancy.
- Fill choices in genuine order: include only eligible and affordable options.
- Download allotment: follow the round's reporting/upgrade instructions.
- Report with originals: pay only authorised demands and collect acknowledgements.
Choices may need fresh submission in later rounds. Do not assume an earlier list automatically carries forward.
How to read the Rajasthan seat matrix
The matrix can separate government seats, management seats in government-society/RUHS colleges, private-college seats and NRI seats. Each row can have distinct cost, eligibility and bond. Match the full college/seat code rather than selecting by college name alone.
- College ownership: government, society/RAJMES, RUHS, ESIC or private.
- Seat class: state, management, NRI or another notified class.
- Category: use the official legend for reservation, female, PwBD and other codes.
- Round vacancy: current availability may be far below annual intake.
- Fee sheet: link the exact matrix row to the correct tuition and deposit.
New colleges and intake changes in NMC's 2026 matrix do not guarantee immediate inclusion in every Rajasthan round. Wait for the board's updated matrix.
Rajasthan MBBS cutoff 2026
The valid cutoff is the final closing rank for one college, seat type, category and round in an official allotment result. It cannot be known beforehand and is different from the national NEET qualifying cutoff.
Use AIR or state merit rank exactly as the report defines it. Marks-to-rank changes annually. Government state quota, society management, private and NRI closes must be analysed separately. Round 1 and stray-vacancy data are not interchangeable.
Choice-list bands
- Aspirational: candidate rank is weaker than comparable official closes.
- Competitive: rank is near multiple comparable results.
- Relatively safer: rank is stronger than comparable evidence, never guaranteed.
Fees strongly affect cutoff movement, so a rank without its fee category is incomplete.
Fees, security deposit and bonds
The 2026 college-wise fee sheets are controlling. Government, society, management, private and NRI seats can differ dramatically. Include tuition, hostel, caution money, university/examination charges and bonds in the comparison.
For historical context, the 2025 booklet specified a ₹5,00,000 security amount for candidates opting for MBBS in private medical colleges. It also stated that a candidate joining a management seat in government-society colleges/RUHS CMS could be required to execute a bond making all remaining-semester fees payable if leaving before completion. These are dated 2025 terms; verify 2026 amounts and wording.
| Financial item | Why it matters | Verification |
|---|---|---|
| Annual/semester tuition | Main course liability | Exact 2026 college and seat row |
| Counselling security | May be forfeited under rules | Amount, adjustment and refund timeline |
| Remaining-fee bond | Potential exit liability | Current seat types and wording |
| Hostel/mess | Large recurring cost | Room-wise current notice |
| NRI payment | Currency/document conditions | Current official order |
Build the full-course budget
Calculate each academic year/semester, hostel, mess, deposits, examination fees, insurance, books, equipment, local transport and travel home. Separate confirmed charges from estimates. Ask whether tuition applies during internship and how annual revision works.
If using a loan, confirm sanction, collateral, margin, moratorium, interest during study and disbursement schedule before locking. A provisional allotment does not guarantee bank funding. Read board forfeiture and college discontinuation rules separately.
Never pay an agent or personal account. Match beneficiary details against the official reporting notice and retain itemised receipts.
Documents for Rajasthan counselling
- Registration/confirmation page and payment proof.
- NEET UG 2026 admit card and scorecard.
- State merit/allotment letter when issued.
- Class 10 certificate and Class 12 marksheet/passing certificate.
- Government photo ID, photographs and nationality records.
- Rajasthan domicile/residence evidence where required.
- SC/ST/OBC/MBC/EWS/PwBD and other certificates in current format.
- NRI status, relationship and sponsorship evidence where applicable.
- Transfer, migration, conduct, gap and medical-fitness documents.
- Seat-specific bond, bank guarantee or undertaking.
- Anti-ragging forms and payment receipts.
Use the 2026 booklet and allotted-college checklist as final. Ensure names and dates match across records and obtain acknowledgement for originals retained.
MCC and Rajasthan round coordination
Track both calendars if registered in MCC. Before joining, upgrading or resigning, record the latest allotment, permitted action, security consequence and next-round eligibility. Authority data sharing can restrict participation after later-round allotments.
Do not use a prior year's Round 3 rule. Read the current notice immediately before acting. Missing a reporting or resignation deadline can cause fee loss and disqualification.
How to compare Rajasthan colleges
Compare identical seat types. Review complete cost, official comparable cutoffs, NMC status/intake, faculty, hospital OPD/IPD and occupancy, clinical group size, hostel, location, internship and bonds.
For RAJMES/society colleges, do not assume every fee seat has the same terms. For new private colleges, verify faculty, hospital activity and infrastructure scaling through current MARB disclosures. Reputation alone is insufficient.
Pre-choice verification checklist
- Confirm candidate eligibility for the exact seat row.
- Match NMC intake with the Rajasthan matrix.
- Download the college's 2026 fee/bond sheet.
- Calculate cash needed at reporting and later payments.
- Check comparable category/round ranks.
- Audit hospital and academic evidence.
- Rank only colleges the candidate will join.
Common mistakes
- Assuming NEET registration covers Rajasthan counselling.
- Using a predicted schedule before the official booklet.
- Calling all Rajasthan private/management seats open to everyone.
- Confusing NMC intake with state vacancies.
- Comparing different fee-seat cutoffs.
- Reusing the 2025 ₹5 lakh deposit as confirmed 2026.
- Ignoring remaining-semester fee bonds.
- Failing to coordinate MCC and state rounds.
- Paying before official allotment.
- Ignoring hostel and discontinuation costs.
Frequently asked questions
Who conducts Rajasthan MBBS counselling?
The state's NEET UG Medical and Dental Admission/Counselling Board conducts state/private routes; MCC separately handles AIQ, AIIMS and deemed seats.
Has Rajasthan 2026 registration started?
The detailed official 2026 booklet/schedule was not verified as of 19 July. Monitor Rajasthan Medical Education.
Can non-domicile candidates apply?
Some seat types may permit them, but not every row. Use the exact 2026 eligibility clause.
What is the security deposit?
The 2025 private-MBBS amount was ₹5 lakh. Do not pay or quote it for 2026 until the new booklet confirms it.
What is Rajasthan's 2026 cutoff?
There is no single cutoff. Use the official close for the exact college, seat type, category and round.
Is separate MCC registration needed?
Yes, for AIQ, AIIMS or deemed routes. State registration does not include MCC.
Management-seat bond audit
Before selecting a management seat in a government-society or RUHS-linked college, obtain the exact 2026 bond and ask how “remaining semesters” are calculated. Confirm whether liability changes after an upgrade, resignation before joining, resignation after joining, failure in an examination, medical withdrawal or transfer. The counselling board's forfeiture and the college's course-fee claim may be separate.
Do not rely on a counsellor saying the bond is never enforced. Read the signed document, identify the competent authority and dispute/refund process, and keep a copy before handing over originals. Families should budget for the contractual worst case they are willing to accept, not only the expected first-year payment.
College evidence file to prepare
Create one folder per shortlisted college containing the NMC 2026 row, Rajasthan seat-matrix row, category legend, fee sheet, bond, hostel notice, MARB disclosure, faculty list and comparable official allotment result. Add a one-page summary of cash due at reporting, recurring cost and exit liability.
For hospital quality, look for dated OPD, IPD, deliveries, surgeries, beds and occupancy. Divide the evidence by the undergraduate intake to frame questions about group size, but do not create a simplistic patient-per-student ranking. During a visit, ask active students how many learners attend a bedside unit, whether they examine patients under supervision and how internship duties are allocated.
Choice ordering example
Suppose a candidate can afford a state seat, one society-management option and two private colleges, but not NRI. Remove every NRI row first. Within the affordable set, rank the candidate's genuine preference after comparing location, clinical evidence, cost and bond. Do not place an unaffordable “better” college above an acceptable option merely to see what happens—an allotment can trigger deposit and round consequences.
Maintain fallback choices below the preferred colleges. A long list is useful only when each row has been verified and is joinable. Quantity cannot compensate for a wrong fee code.
Final action plan
Keep NEET and eligibility documents ready, monitor the Medical Education Department for the official portal, read the 2026 booklet before payment, compare NMC and state matrices, build fee-specific choices, coordinate MCC rounds and report only on an official allotment.
